Yes, I've decided I will take my modem to Comcast today and cancel my account. Connection: lost.
BTW, If for some reason you have my email address listed as cozy11@comcast.net, please delete that and make sure you send all email to coz@cozbaldwin.com. I may not get it for a few days, but I will.
In the meantime... why don't you sign the GuestMAP down there?
See ya's soon!
P.S. -- Just realized I never posted my favorite photo from Outer Banks last year! Well, it's been added to the Photography page.
Here's a sneak peek:
Ok. Blogger has come back online and now I can't rememeber what i was going to write about.
Other than the fact that after the launch of Joel's site ( see here) I now have 4 prospective clients. One of which I've already come up with some ideas for.
It seems I have a business all of a sudden!
Ok and here's the other thing.... I'm moving this weekend and I don't know how long I will be without a connection. Please bear with me and I'll keep you all updated through this page. Check back soon!
I did another doodle, under freestyle.
I also want to say in response to the negative feedback I received the other day from my outburst...
I have been running this site, now, for 4 years or so (including the days before the domain name). I've had Soundtrack Week, Soundtrack Week 2, and countless other times where participating was encouraged by me, by either commenting on something, emailing me, playing in a contest, or whatever the case was. And every single time I ask for participation or feedback, I get next to nothing. It's hard for me to comprehend the normal human being's mind and truly understand why this is. When I am asked to participate in such a way, I immediately do so.
Do you know how it feels to be constantly rejected by your "friends", peers, and the rest of the world who pass by this site... time and time again? I realize this site is not important to any of you. But you seem to forget that this site is, in a sense, me. Wholly. So when you reject the site, you are rejecting me. If I came up to you and showed you a piece of work I just did and was so proud of it, and I wanted to show it to you and see what you thought... would you turn your head and walk away? That's what you're doing by not commenting when I ask your opinion (which I RARELY ever do). Now, put together that feeling and learn that you've had 40-50 people pass through the site, essentially multiplying that feeling by 40-50 times... and one comment.
And you all wonder why I'm angry. And you all wonder why I can justify my death. And you all wonder why I'm depressed and tell me I can change it.
HOW!? How can I change it?!
By creating something positive? ==ok, done==
By showing my positive creation to the world? ==ok, done==
Hmm... no one cares. No one's paying any attention. Fuck that. You may say I'm self-centered by writing all of this and being pissy because I'm not getting any attention and *whine whine whine* but you know what? It's not ME who's being selfish. I am not the one who's looking at the homeless man with 2 cents in my pocket, neglecting to pass it along to him. I'm not going around snubbing my nose up at the people who just want your minute long input.
Whew!
I think the new Joel Perlish site is done. Through many, many versions, I *think* we've come to a conclusion. I hope I'm not speaking too soon, here.
I'm now going to take you through a brief ride down memory lane. Not your memory lane... MINE.
Here is the current site he has which we planned on updating all the content and give it a face lift as well:
joelperlish.com
Here is my initial proposal:
Version 1 A stylish new look!
And here are the subsequent versions after following his direction of how he would really like to see it:
Version 2 Re-instating classic menu look.
Version 3 Addition of animated runner, bringing back the "photoguy.gif", updated logo.
Version 4 Addition of icons to all menus, photoguy.gif was later added into the logo to resemble old site.
And here, ladies and gentlemen, is the final result and perhaps what will be the new official joelperlish.com which we hope to launch next week.
Final Version All menu icons animated, new color scheme to resemble old site, centered header to fit in the bigger logo and photoguys, menu links updated, bookmarks at top and bottom of each page of content.
So all in all it does look better than the current site, however I can't take much credit for designing it. Joel was really the main designer, here. I just acted as the hands to create it and bring it to life.
Hi. Please comment on this. Thank you.
Ok I've done a bit of tweaking and made the thing really effects heavy. I have not used these corny effects in forever but for some reason... I like them how they are. Please give me your unbiased opinions. Be honest. Be brutally honest. Even if you don't know me, I want you to comment and tell me what you think. The music will soon be formatted differently (to provide for much faster loading) and have the option of stopping it.
Until then, do it all once, let it load the first time all the way through, then go back and start again so it all loads together nicely. (Hopefully it will for you dial-up people.....)
Here you go.
And here we have Kurt Vile v.2 --- Can you tell I'm unemployed and have nothing better to do with my time?
UPDATE: I added a 9 second wave loop of a song. Frontpage (which I've begun to use) tells me it will take 7 minutes before it downloads and begins to play on a 56k modem. Can someone tell me if this is true? It also says it will take 3 minutes for me on a cable modem, however it only takes 15 seconds. In the meantime, I'm gonna see if I can get this converted to midi so it will download faster.
I've been working on some sites lately, mainly for Joel Perlish. But I told Kurt Vile I'd be interested in making one for him since all he has is this. I've only been working on Kurt's for a day and he won't even be around to give me any feedback for at least 2 weeks. He isn't even expecting me to do anything. But I'd really like to do it. He's crazy and would probably like a funky looking site... something to suit his music. WHICH, BY THE WAY, he "released" another album at the wedding and gave out copies to everyone. Really nice stuff. He has a song for John on there, too. The album is much more subdued this time around, with a lot of finger-plucked folk infuence. He's really working on some groundbreaking stuff, we all agree. Here's design #1 for Kurt. Only the HOME page and NEWS page work, and the news is actually a bio... just because I needed something to write in there.
Joel's is still in progress but I'll be sure to link to it when I'm done. It's very difficult for me because Joel likes the current design he has and I wanted to really spice it up and turn it into something eye-catching. But he keeps pulling me back down to the old school world of web design, using a lot of the graphics he currently has. I'm not complaining, mind you. I design for the client, not myself. (heh... I have clients. lol) Anyway, it will be better than what he has now, but don't expect much of a change.
Congratulations to Kurt Vile and Suzanne Lang on their wedding today!! I will be leaving in a minute to partake in this affair. I've known them both since they were 4 feet high and unaware of each other's existance. Both John and Gary (Suzanne's brother) were supposed to be at this wedding. They both would have enjoyed this day very much.
Perhaps, amidst my athiestic views I can find a little string to pull on that reveals a minute bit of hope that they are indeed watching the day's events.
And to them I shall say: "Hello, boys."
In other news, my 2nd dream job has rejected me. I can't take much more of this. My funds are running low, as well as my confidence. I can't fucking believe I'm not getting these jobs. I want to tug on the skin that surrounds Bush's skull and then quickly RIP IT OFF, down around his neck, where it will tear off at the collar bone, as I proceed to shove the pulsating flesh and hair follicles down his motherfuckin' throat. MwwaAhhahaHAaAHaHAHahAhHaHAhahaahHAhahAha
My old friend Sarah Fulton (who recently signed the guestbook, which you should do... or better yet, sign the guestMAP) has had this psuedo-open mic thing going on at her house a few times. Like a livingroom open mic. Pretty neat. Unfortunatly, she's having trouble getting it off the ground with not too many people showing up and even fewer people actually playing. It seems to turn into a little party everytime instead of people playing. But I'm sure it will soon gain in popularity....
Anyway, I played a "new song" today. No one had heard it yet because I've only been playing it for 2 days. The bad thing is, it's not my song. It's a cover of a cover.
I'm covering The White Stripes version of Dolly Parton's "Jolene." You really should find it and download it because it's amazing, unlike the original version which somehow does not do the song justice. (I always seem to like the covers better than the originals)
It went quite well. It kinda got everyone's attention and the few that were there stopped talking and came into the livingroom from the kitchen where they were chatting and stopped to listen. I love the song so much I was really able to get deep into it and I began to even shake a little bit. And boy, I found it really drained me when I stood up to smoke after the song. It felt good. I just wish I had a song of my own.
I added a couple new doodles, plus an "alt text" to them. So hover your cursor over each picture for a brief description and title.
I think I got rid of the errors. It seems there was some extra script that made its way into the commenting system script.... and I have NO idea how I could have done that. Anyway, hopefully as is well.
Also, I now have Windows 2kPro and Office XP Pro thanks to Com3/Joe.
I'm running into some errors and hopefully they will clear up eventually.
My cell phone (only phone) is messed up. If you try to call in, good luck... your chances are slim. I can call out just fine. AT&T is not taking responsiblity for this and says it's not them. So what the fuck. It's just everyone I know's home phone is allofasudden not able to call mine. Riiiigghhhtt...
Email me if you can't get through. Or text message me here: http://www.mobile.att.net/messagecenter/index.html
Just added a new page detailing my doodledraw portfolio. Check it here, or go through the newly updated linkography page.
And you can place comments on the doodle page, too... which I'd hope you will do.
I'm totally not into the whole Charlie's Angels thing. Doesn't (and never did) interest me in the least.... but goddamn that movie looks hot. The girls do, at least.
And this fucking Kelly Clarkson and Justin movie?!?! What the fuck! Disgusting, I tell you. I hate America.
...I mean... *cough* God Bless Us Everyone!
To Dan and anyone else who may not have received information on the joint class reunion for the classes of '97 and '98, Penn Wood High....
We have one. Reservations must be received by June 30th. The reunion is at The Holiday Inn, Essington. July 26th, 7pm.
Single: $40
Couple: $70
I don't know about you, but I've waited for my class reunion since I was in 7th grade. Ha! Even though I hated everyone, and I avoid them on the street, it would be neat to see some of these people. Drink with them. Granted, most of them will be in jail or home with their children.
